Changelog
A little wit while topics load
- Topic progress rotates shuffled loading quips, with reassurance on longer runs. Turn off Show loading quips for plain messages; your choice is remembered in this browser. Screen readers receive stage changes only, and reduced-motion preferences are respected.
Filter topics by tracking
- Topics & Trends now has a Tracking filter (All, Daily, Weekly, Off) with counts, so you can quickly see which topics you are or aren't tracking.
Topics & Trends, one home
- The separate Trend page is merged into Topics, now called Topics & Trends in the main menu. Each topic has a Compare button; pick up to five and click Chart selected next to the filters to overlay their search interest on the same page.
Choose your discussion channels
- The Discussions tab on topic pages now lets you pick which channels to track alongside Reddit and Quora: Hacker News and Stack Exchange (free public APIs), plus LinkedIn, TikTok, Medium & Substack and UK forums (one extra Google search each per refresh). Channels save per topic, and adding one fetches it straight away.
Live insight progress, everywhere
- Topic pages now show a prominent progress bar while Google questions, search interest, query fan-out, YouTube and discussions load, with a small status dot on each source tab. Everything keeps loading in the background if you navigate away — a bar at the bottom of the screen tracks it and lets you jump back when it's ready.
Welcome back homepage
- Signed-in visitors now see a welcome screen on the homepage with quick links to Plan, Optimise and Trend.
One-click Fetch trends
- Fetch trends now opens the new topic straight away and fetches everything automatically, with progress shown — no separate Run now step. Use Run again inside the topic to refresh.
- Trend reports replace the empty question-changes placeholder with a link to the tabbed question view.
Guides for Plan, Optimise and Trend
- Added step-by-step guides for topic research and brief planning, existing-page optimisation and trend comparisons. Find them on each workflow page, in new brief setup and in the footer, with guidance on interpreting the evidence and common questions.
Beast Mode and guided source review
- Brief setup offers all-source recommendations or a guided PAA, Query Fan-Out, Discussions and YouTube review, with a final selection summary. Late results no longer replace handpicked choices.
- Topics without saved questions can fetch them directly. Close the beta banner once to keep it hidden in this browser, and use the same Plan, Optimise and Trend navigation across the site.
A clearer, more compact brief
- The editorial outline now comes first, with show-more controls for section advice, research evidence and writing guardrails. Missing or outdated details and unique additions have clearer highlights, and the collapsible pre-publish checklist sits at the bottom. Editing and exports retain the full brief.
Brief question step unlocks reliably
- Choosing an entity now counts as confirming it, so the question step and recommended pack unlock as soon as search results are checked.
Instant page-type advice in briefs
- Changing the intended page type after checking search results now updates the fit advice instantly, without searching again.
Simpler topic pages and a full question export
- Topic pages are now for exploring: browse questions by tab, then Create brief to choose what to use. A new Export questions button downloads a spreadsheet with People Also Ask, query fan-out, YouTube and discussions on separate tabs.
Recommended research pack for briefs
- New briefs now pre-select a balanced pack from every source: core questions, up to 3 emerging autocomplete angles, 3 reader questions from discussions and 3 YouTube hooks. The brief uses each one — questions shape the outline, autocomplete adds sub-sections, discussions become reader doubts and YouTube phrasing informs a title.
One richer homepage showcase
- Merged the two homepage examples into a single daily showcase that also previews search interest, volume, intent split, news and discussions.
A different homepage example each day
- The homepage example rotates daily between seven topics, with matching questions and illustrative trend data. Examples are clearly labelled, not presented as live research.
Pre-launch beta
- Added a beta banner with a launch-notification email signup.
- Search engines are asked not to index the site while it is in beta.
Cleaner Topics and a tidier header
- Simpler navigation: Plan, Optimise and Trend. Briefs, Topics, Schema, Integrations and Pricing are now in the footer.
- The homepage now leads with topic research and briefs, not just Google's questions.
- Coverage icons in the question matrix are now a traffic light: green for fully answered, amber for partly answered, red for missing, grey when we couldn't score it.
- AI Overview on Topics now collapses to two lines with a Show more toggle.
- “New” tags on YouTube suggestions and discussions only appear once a topic has an earlier check to compare against.
- Search volumes you fetch stay on their row after you leave and return — no repeat charge.
- Removed “Get volume” from Reddit and Quora threads, where Google has no search volume.
- Sign out now sits on the navigation row, with your credits underneath.
- Added this changelog.
- Simplified the homepage to one honest set of reasons to use Serpsoup; removed sample quotes, the comparison table and the roadmap.
Briefs use every research source properly
- Query Fan-Out joins briefs as emerging sub-topics not yet in Google’s questions.
- Each source has a clear role: PAA for outline and FAQs, discussions for reader objections, YouTube for title and media ideas.
- Saved briefs show which sources shaped them, including in Markdown and Word exports.
Smarter entities and tracking choices
- Entity search now finds related Wikipedia topics, not only exact name matches.
- Tracking anywhere offers Daily, Weekly or Off.
- Brief steps unlock in order, with clearer messages when something fails.
